Must-See Video! We touched on this in our coverage of the “60 Minutes” interview with the US airman who was shot down over Iran: the operation to retrieve him safely will go down in history as the largest search-and-rescue mission in US history and a shining example of America’s “Leave no soldier behind” policy.
Tuesday, ** the US military released declassified video** of some of that operation. You can see it at the link and read a description of what’s taking place, from the strikes on Iranian forces that were closing in to the discovery of the airman and the dramatic helicopter landing and rescue. If this doesn’t make you proud to be an American, then there’s no hope for you and you might as well become a “Democratic” socialist.
Gas prices jumped by another 1.6% Wednesday due to Iranian attacks threatening supplies, and the Fed raised interest rates, increasing Americans’ concerns about the economy just six weeks from the midterm elections. At the All-In Summit, Vice President J.D. Vance ** attempted to explain** to those who want the US to leave Iran why we can’t do that. He said:
“What I would say to anybody who’s frustrated right now is the alternative here, which is the United States effectively says to the Middle East, ‘You’re on your own,’ would mean necessarily a worldwide energy crisis, so long as the Iranians keep on shooting at shipping, which we know that’s exactly what they would do. The President came in, and yes, he wanted to keep the United States out of foreign entanglements, He also said that he was committed to Iran not having a nuclear weapon, and I think that wanting to keep the United States out of foreign entanglements does not mean that you can never use the military in order to accomplish the American people’s objectives.”
He added that Iranian forces continued targeting commercial shipping “even in the midst of peace negotiations. I think the President has actually done the responsible thing here, which is to try to ensure that world energy markets, despite Iranian terrorism, continue to get that flow of oil and gas.”
In other Iran-related news updates, US diplomats recently met with representatives of the Iran-backed terrorist group, the Houthis, that’s in an armed conflict with Saudi Arabia. The US is providing military aid and intelligence support to the Saudis but hasn’t directly intervened in the fighting.
** President Trump said Wednesday** that Iran had reached out to the US “directly” and is “very much wanting to make a deal” to end the war, and “we’ll see how that works out.” He said, “Hopefully we’re toward the end of the war.”
Wednesday, the Federal Reserve ** defied President Trump** by raising interest rates by a quarter percentage point. This will increase costs of monthly payments and make it harder to buy houses or cars.
A Fed spokesman claimed this decision was made after careful consideration and caused by the increase in inflation. Critics of the Fed’s actions say that the current inflation is not caused by an overheated economy, which is what rate increases are meant to deal with; but by a temporary, artificial jump in gas prices caused by Iran threatening oil supplies. Raising rates won’t do anything about that inflation, it will just make things more expensive for working Americans, and just two months before the midterm elections, which the Democrats are trying to make all about “affordability.”
Question: If the Democrats get back into power and make everything even more expensive with their high taxes, regulations, open borders and massive waste and fraud, will the Fed raise interest rates to fight that inflation, too?
President Trump ** responded hotly to the Fed on Truth Social**, arguing that the US should have 1% interest rates because we have the “best credit in the world – BY FAR.” He wrote, “Our country is booming with new investment,” adding that “We are ‘carrying’ almost every country in the World, and that cannot go on any longer. LOWER THE INTEREST RATES FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND FAST!”
While the Democrats (who gave us 9% inflation the last time they were in power) claim that they are the trusted experts at dealing with the economy, ** the Census Bureau on Tuesday reported** that in the first year of Trump’s second term, the US poverty rate dropped to its lowest level on record, while median household income hit a record high.
Philadelphia’s “progressive” Democrat DA Larry Krasner is more famous for making leftist political statements and letting criminals go free than he is for prosecutions. But he might be facing a prosecution soon that he can’t drop: his own.
** A federal judge has asked federal prosecutors to investigate Krasner** and his deputy for possible obstruction of justice and other crimes in his handling of a case. Just the News has more details at the link. We’ve hoped for a long time that prosecutions of criminals would make a comeback in Philadelphia, but we hardly dared hope that they might be aimed at the prosecutor.
That story also features this quote: “The referral comes as Krasner faces serious criticism for his attempts to overturn murder convictions without proper reviews, despite winning reelection last year.” Note to Philadelphians: When your DA is working harder to let murderers go free than to jail them, and you reelect him anyway, it gets harder to feel sorry for you.
If you’ve turned on a TV news channel over the past week, chances are you have heard virtually nothing but scare stories about AI (artificial intelligence.) We suspect this is largely due to a combination of a slow news week and a highly-orchestrated campaign to terrify Americans into demanding strict government regulation, which would benefit the current AI leaders (it would help kill upstart rivals) and China (which would love to see US AI development strangled by regulations while they continue ahead unrestricted. That’s pretty much the same plan they had with CO2 generation.)
We think that much of the current “news” about AI is manufactured news or hysterical reaction to manufactured news. But if you’d like to keep up with the ** constant flow of it, Fox News created a regularly-updated page** just for that. Enjoy reading it while watching “Terminator” movies.
After liberal female fellow jurors and irresponsible media identified the Lindsay Clancy hold-out juror, the judge ordered the names of the remaining jurors to be sealed indefinitely. But that won’t do much to stop the doxxing attempts. His family is already afraid to leave their home due to threats from radical nutjobs and media demands.
This is a direct assault on the very foundations of the jury system, between a female juror admitting she went in with an agenda of advancing feminism rather than ruling on the facts of the case and a juror being publicly shamed, smeared and threatened for exercising his right to vote his conscience and not cave in to groupthink and acquit a mom who killed her three small children.
As horrible as this story is, the only satisfying thing about it was watching the mind-bending cognitive dissonance of leftist reporters who discovered to their shock that the juror they’d been vilifying all week is black. And now, there’s an extra serving of it: ** Turns out he’s also a Haitian immigrant**.
In the wake of the Supreme Court upholding birthright citizenship, Sen. Rand Paul has reintroduced his constitutional amendment to ban it. Jonathan Turley ** has more on Paul’s crusade** to counter the SCOTUS’ decision that the Constitution really IS a suicide pact.
We are thankful to God for some great news from Susie Wiles, the first female White House Chief of Staff. She revealed in March that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, but after receiving treatment, she announced this week that “my pathology results came back clear,” and “** I am cancer free**.”
On the one-year anniversary of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, his family reportedly ** intends to sue Utah State University** for their “stunning” security failures and “reckless decisions.” Those include failing to secure the rooftops from shooters and having only six campus cops to deal with thousands of people.
