The young progressives at THE VANGUARD invited me to join their show for the first time, and we took some time to spill tea about Never Trump Republicans, corporate centrists, and Democrats who are moving to the right and abandoning their base over Palestine.
Apparently, we were prescient.
Although Jon Ossoff crushed in his debate, he stumbled when asked if Israel is committing a genocide. Dr. Annie Andrews decided to release a 30 second ad in which she said there should be no men in women’s sports, responding to the bad faith, anti-transgender fearmongering incited by Republicans. Over at MSNOW, Symone Sanders and the host stood by silently as a right-wing guest used Islamophobic attacks against Abdul El-Sayed. In the evening, ICE agents again shot an individual in NYC, prompting protests and admonishment by Rep. Chevalier and Mayor Mamdani. In response, Rep. Jeffries posted another milquetoast statement conveying nothing.
Democratic leaders and their donors refuse to meet the people where they are when it comes to economic policies, ICE, Israel, forever wars, and AI. When the rest of us try to sound the alarm, we are accused of being divisive. Instead, the Democratic Party moves towards the right and is more comfortable with Sarah Longwell of The Bulwark, who gave them terrible advice which VP candidate Tim Walz confessed helped Dems lose in 2024.
