Dear subscribers,
Today, I want to share a new episode with Anthony Pompliano.
Pomp and I worked together at Facebook a decade ago before he became an investor, best-selling author, and public company CEO with an audience of 3.3M. We had a great chat about how to build an extraordinary career and life and how he’s building Silvia, an AI CFO for independent investors, to take on the AI labs.
Pomp and I talked about:
▶(00:00) Why Pomp never had a career plan
▶(04:43) Why an audience is the best way to win
▶(10:33) Paid work trials instead of job interviews
▶(18:35) Hire for revenue, not margins
▶(20:32) Silvia: An AI CFO for investors
▶(25:00) How AI found a great tax strategy
▶(32:05) How a team of under 10 plans to compete with the AI labs
▶(35:58) Pomp’s latest take on Bitcoin
▶(39:21) How Pomp teaches his four kids to solve problems

Pomp’s career playbook
Here’s a brief history of Pomp’s fascinating career. He never had a 10-year plan. Instead, each move solved his biggest problem and set up the next one:
Learn the skill you’re missing: His first two startups failed to scale, so he joined Facebook to learn growth.
Get an audience first to get deal flow: He wanted to invest but didn’t know the next generation of founders, so he built a 2.4M following on X by going deep on Bitcoin.
Show up every day: In May 2018, he started a daily newsletter that began as crypto news. He still writes it himself every morning, and it now has 270,000+ subscribers.
Start small to test fit: He and his partner started with a $3.5M fund and took no management fee. Pomp has since invested in 300+ private companies.
Solve your own problem: Pomp was tired of updating his personal finance spreadsheet by hand every week. As AI took off, his team turned it into Silvia, an AI CFO for independent investors.
