I received my official permanent residence card in my new country. And the lady who processed my application deemed me one of them when I asked to see my picture before it went on my permanent card.
I know a lot of people say those who leave are giving up, but I can only do this work with distance. Mental-health-wise, I don’t think I could show up here day-after-day and week-after-week if I were still there. So many people are fighting this regime. We don’t need purity tests to make anyone’s contribution “less than.”
Whether you left or remained and are still fighting, I’m honored to stand alongside you.
What gave YOU hope this week?
