Everyone is trying to add AI to their business right now.
AI sales tools. AI customer service. AI onboarding. AI note-taking. AI assistants. AI assistants for the AI assistants.
Very exciting.
Small problem:
If the way your business works is already a mess, AI just lets you make the mess faster.
That’s the argument Jeff MacPherson, CEO of Cloud37, makes on this week’s Liquid Lunch Project.
And he would know.
Jeff has spent more than a decade building tech companies, including an early Instagram automation platform that sent more than a billion messages before Facebook eventually shut the whole thing down.
Which is a fairly memorable way to learn about platform risk.
These days, he helps companies take all the valuable stuff trapped inside their best employees’ heads and turn it into actual systems the rest of the company can use.
Turns out, that part matters quite a bit if you want AI to do anything useful.
🍸 We Get Into:
Why AI exposes bad processes instead of fixing them
The onboarding mistake that quietly screws up growth
How to get your best employees’ knowledge out of their heads
Why employees can be harder to change than the technology
Why “white glove” service may actually become more valuable because of AI
How AI could make it much harder for fake experts to hide
Why building your company around one AI platform is asking for trouble
And what Jeff learned from watching Facebook make his entire company disappear
The big takeaway is refreshingly unsexy: Stop buying tools for five minutes and figure out how your business actually works.
Then automate it.
Otherwise, congratulations. You’ve built a faster way to do the wrong thing.
P.S. If you know a business owner who currently has 14 AI subscriptions, six browser extensions, three chatbots, and absolutely no documented onboarding process...
Please send them this episode.
For everyone’s sake.
