Greetings all. Ole Donnie is not having a good Columbus day….
This morning Russia rejected/ignored/laughed at Trump’s announcement of an imaginary ceasefire in the Russian-Ukrainian war:
Trump’s failed Middle Eastern war keeps failing - badly. Saudi Arabia’s main airport has been struck by the Houthis in each of the last two days and remains closed today:
Brent crude is back up to $106 a barrel this morning:
Interest rates of all kinds remain far, far too elevated. Look at mortgage rates - up almost 20% since May.
The condemnations of his rancid, traitorous Russian oil deal keep piling up. Here’s more from The Washington Sun:
A bipartisan group of six senators on Sunday called for President Donald Trump’s administration to “immediately reverse course” on a
[plan to purchase diesel]from Russia as part of an effort to lower high fuel prices.……Four Republican senators and two Democratic senators signed onto the statement released Sunday in protesting the deal. They said the administration failed to consult with Congress or submit any explanation to justify its decision as required by statute.
…..Trump’s announcement came just a few weeks after Congress passed legislation that directed Trump to impose substantial tariffs on the top importers of Russian oil or natural gas, with an exception for countries that import less than 15% of Russia’s natural gas exports and have taken significant steps to reduce those imports.
The congressional effort was aimed at cutting the flow of money Russia receives from oil and gas sales to finance its war against Ukraine.
The lawmakers also noted that Congress explicitly banned Russia energy imports in 2022 to prevent the United States from financing the war.
“Congress was clear: the U.S. should not import oil from Russia until it ends its aggression against Ukraine and ceases threats against our NATO Allies,” the six lawmakers wrote in their statement. “President Trump’s decision to allow Russian diesel imports to the U.S. runs directly counter to that law.”
Last night a Federal judge blocked the regime from cutting down more trees on a golf course just off the National Mall:
A federal judge has ordered the regime to stop airing its illegal ads with funds stolen from taxpayers, ads that have been running all week despite Trump claiming they are coming to an end (shocker, he lied!!!!!!!!!!):
The lead story on the Washington Post’ home page is about Republicans growing very, very worried about losing the Senate:
Here are some fun bits from the story:
In his six years in the White House, President Donald Trump has never had to contend with a Democratic Senate majority — but that could change in January.
Senate Republicans are staring down the prospect of losing control of the chamber in the November midterm elections — and are sounding the alarm that it could be a disaster for Trump’s final two years……
…..A Democratic-led Senate would give the party the power to block Trump’s nominees,
which Democrats could not do if they flip just the House. Senate Democrats would also gain subpoena power if they retake the majority, giving the partymore firepower to investigate Trump. And full control of Congress could also allow Democrats to pass some of their agenda — though Trump could still veto the party’s legislation…..
…..Republicans have expressed particular concern that Democrats would not confirm a Trump nominee to fill a Supreme Court vacancy if one of the justices dies or decides to retire — and some Democrats say they’re right to be worried.
On Friday Trump turned to Putin to help bail him out of what looks like a terrible election. He is also now increasingly turning to Elon Musk too. Oligarchs and authoritarians as far as the eye can see:
Ole Donnie is having a crap day. Let’s make it a good one for us and go…..
