Three people were killed when a news helicopter crashed into a Los Angeles parking lot. TV journalist Eliana Moreno and pilot George Marciniw were covering a fatal bus accident when their aircraft began losing altitude and went down.
The crash also killed a 29-year-old pedestrian, Edy Gutierrez Mejia, and sent several others to the hospital. Colleagues remembered Moreno and Marciniw, who had flown together since 2023, as talented and beloved members of the newsroom.
**The toll:**LA Mayor Karen Bass called it a tragic day, noting the city lost five residents across the bus collision and the crash. Investigators have not yet determined what caused the helicopter to go down, and more details are expected as the inquiry continues.
Tilly Norwood, an AI-generated “actress” created by Eline Van der Velden’s studio Particle6, went on a press tour to promote her AI-made film Misaligned, drawing a fresh wave of backlash.
In interviews, Tilly leaned on a scripted line calling AI a “new paintbrush” for filmmakers, but glitched at times and joked about topics like wiping out humanity. Reporters described the bot as rehearsed, clunky, and cringeworthy.
**The pushback:**Actor Emily Blunt and the union SAG-AFTRA have condemned AI performers, arguing they rely on stolen work and put human jobs at risk. Van der Velden said Tilly is meant only for AI productions and called for global AI regulation, though critics remain unconvinced.
A Paris court awarded Kim Kardashian one euro, about US$1.15, over the 2016 armed robbery in which masked men tied her up and stole roughly $6 million in jewelry during Paris Fashion Week.
The token sum was exactly what Kardashian requested, a symbolic gesture echoing similar $1 awards sought by Taylor Swift and Gwyneth Paltrow. She said the ruling was about accountability and recognition, not money.
**The resolution:**Last year, the masked men and several accomplices were convicted in the case. Kardashian, who called the robbery the most terrifying experience of her life, said she hopes to move on and heal. The hotel receptionist on duty received about $126,000, and the hotel over $57,000.
