Ukraine weighstaxing adult content. 🌐Holmes headsto halfway house in 2027. ⚖️Six Flags faceslawsuits over brain injuries. 🤯
Ukraine's parliament is weighing a bill to decriminalize and tax adult content, which is currently punishable by up to seven years in prison. It passed a first vote 231–8 in July.
The push follows findings that nearly 8,000 OnlyFans models earned over $131 million in 2023, largely untaxed. With a $27 billion budget gap, supporters say legalizing it could raise $25 million a year, enough for 30,000 drones.
**The tension:**The topic is sensitive given a history of exploitation, and religious groups warn it would harm public morals. Supporters say it would let performers work openly and avoid police extortion. Former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko worries it could turn Ukraine into an adult content hub.
Elizabeth Holmes, the Theranos founder convicted of fraud, will leave the minimum-security prison in Bryan, Texas, for a halfway house in Del Valle, outside Austin, in August 2027. Halfway houses ease reentry, offering counseling, jobs, and weekend passes.
The DOJ must notify crime victims of case developments, which is how investor Alan Eisenman learned of the move. Eisenman, still owed nearly $150,000, called it unfair and said Holmes has never been honest about her conduct.
**What’s next:**Separately, Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim's Holmes documentary hits theaters Oct. 16. Unless her pending commutation request is granted, she's due for release Feb. 22, 2030.
Six Flags’ X2 coaster at Magic Mountain in Southern California, with a 215-foot drop and speeds up to 76 mph, faces lawsuits alleging catastrophic brain injuries. One rider suing the park and manufacturer says she hit her head repeatedly and was confused and unsteady after the ride, then collapsed.
CNN's investigation last month documented at least two deaths linked to the ride. Lawyers say more than 100 other riders have reported brain injuries.
**The fallout:**That rider had part of her skull removed and spent two weeks unconscious. Days later, a second rider’s family says she lost consciousness shortly after getting off the ride and needed emergency brain surgery. A third rider alleges severe brain bleeding. The ride has been closed since July, and Cal/OSHA is investigating.
