A few months ago we sent out a survey, and over 3,000 readers responded. One of our questions was, “What should we build next?” and by far the most requested feature was a searchable archive. Something you could pull up on your phone during a conversation, a place where you could find that half-remembered story about ocean conservation or electricity.
So we built it. ** Introducing our Progress Library, a living archive of global progress**, containing more than 8,000 entries: every single story we’ve published since 2017, all the way back to the before times 😬.
Each story comes with a headline, a short summary and a linked source, just like the newsletter. Unlike the newsletter though, you can filter by category, region, country, date or even SDG. And my personal favourite, the ‘surprise me’ filter, which gives you three stories at random from the entire archive.
We’ve also built a powerful search function, which allows you to enter a term, or ask a question about a specific topic.
As a paid subscriber, you have full access to all the features, including the search function and saved collections. You can sign in using the same email you’re getting this at. We’ll send you a link, there’s no password (you might have to prove you’re not a robot though).
Oh, and we translated it into German and Spanish too :) The translations were done by machine and haven’t been checked by native speakers yet, so if something feels off, tell us.
We’ll still be sending out the regular edition every week, but you can visit the Progress Library at any time, which will also include stories we don’t have space for in the newsletter.
We’re pretty sure nothing else like this exists? We’d love to be corrected, but right now we think it’s the largest and most accessible collection of stories of progress in the world.
** Give it a go, it’s an experiment, we would love your feedback**. Anything that needs fixing or improving, hit reply and tell us!
With love,
Gus
