Okay… okay, first and foremost… thank you for your time… I’d been working on this for a couple of days and I hope it helps……
Listen.
I know why the fuck you’re here.
Either there’s a man in your phone right now who has been in your phone for years... or there’s a version of him in your history that you’re still trying to explain to yourself. Something about that title yelled at you. You didn’t click because it was interesting. You clicked because it was loud, and it was loud because it already knew your business.
So let’s not do the thing where we pretend this is hypothetical.
You’ve got somebody in mind. I don’t know his name. Doesn’t matter. What matters is that you paused on this... and pausing means something in you already suspects what I’m about to say.
I’m not going to be gentle about it. But I promise you I’m on your side.
Let me tell you something as a man who has been in rooms with other men.
There is a version of the guy who has been circling you since 2019 that nobody warns you about. Everybody wants to sell you the fairy tale. He waited. He stayed. He never gave up. Cue the music.
Nah.
Some men aren’t waiting. They’re sitting in traffic. And you’re the light that won’t turn green.
Here’s the thing nobody says out loud... interest has a shelf life. A man likes you, he shoots his shot, you say no thank you, and a healthy man goes home and eats dinner and gets on with his life. That’s it. That’s the whole story. But some men don’t go home. They park. And while they’re parked, something starts to rot.
Because rejection stings, and a certain kind of man cannot hold that sting like an adult. He has to do something with it. So he turns you into the opp.
You didn’t sign up for that. You said no once, politely, maybe even kindly, and in his mind you became the reason his life feels the way it feels. Every year that passes, you’re not the woman he loves. You’re the woman who wouldn’t. And those are wildly different jobs you’ve been assigned without your consent.
So what’s he actually doing all that time?
He’s building a case.
He’s collecting evidence. He’s watching who you date. He’s watching it not work out. He’s screenshotting your soft launches. He’s telling his boys that you’ll come around. And when you post something sad at midnight, he feels a little... good. Not sorry. Good. That’s the tell right there.
By the time you finally give this man a chance, he’s not showing up to love you. He’s showing up to collect.
You think he’s arriving as a boyfriend. He’s arriving as a bill.
And I need you to sit with this part, because this is where it gets ugly. The chase was never about showing you that you’re loved. The chase was about showing you what you missed. There’s a difference, and you can feel the difference in your body about three months in, when he starts doing that thing where he brings up the past. Remember when you wouldn’t even text me back? Said with a smile. Always said with a smile. Because he’s joking. He’s totally joking.
He is not joking.
That man has been the main character of a movie you never auditioned for, and in his version, the ending is you learning your lesson.
He doesn’t want a relationship. He wants a verdict.
Now let me be clear about something, because I don’t want this to get twisted.
There is a man who had you and lost you and is trying to get back. That is a different man. He had a real seat at the table. He saw who you actually are, not the idea of you. He messed up, he knows what he messed up, and if he’s doing the work, that pursuit is coming from somewhere real. You can say no to him too, obviously. But that’s a man asking for a second chance at something he actually experienced.
The other guy is asking for a first chance at a woman he invented.
That’s the whole difference. One man is chasing a memory. The other is chasing a fantasy he’s been feeding for six years, and fantasies get bitter when you finally introduce them to a real human being with a bad mood and a bloated day and opinions of her own.
You will disappoint him. Not because you’re disappointing, but because nobody can be a six-year daydream. And when you fail to be that, he’ll feel justified. See? I gave you everything and you’re still... whatever word he uses.
And here’s the part that makes me want to put my phone down.
You’ll blame yourself.
Because everyone told you he was the good one. He waited. He was so patient. Your auntie loved him. Your coworker said girl he’s obsessed with you in that way that’s supposed to be a compliment. So when it goes bad, you’ll think you broke something that was perfectly fine.
You didn’t. It was never fine. It was just quiet.
Devotion and obsession look identical from a distance. Up close, one of them wants you happy and the other one wants you humbled.
So no, I’m not telling you every persistent man is dangerous. I’m telling you that persistence by itself is not information. It tells you what he does. It tells you nothing about why.
And the why is the only thing that’s going to be living in your house.
Ask yourself one question, and be honest... when you finally said yes, did he seem happy? Or did he seem like he won?
Because if he seemed like he won... shawty, the game isn’t over. It just started, and you’re not on his team.
I want to give you the exact tells. Twenty of them.
Twenty red flags for the man who’s been chasing you, below. Some of them are small. Some of them you’ll recognize immediately, and your stomach will drop, and that’s the point…. THAT WTF MOMENT WILL WAKE YOU UP to the truth.
