As the AI industry moves from generative AI into the era of agentic AI, compute is breaking out of the confines of a single data center and extending to edge terminals, robots, autonomous driving, and other physical devices—forming a new computing landscape of cross-scenario collaboration.
Against this backdrop, Arm Everywhere China 2026 was held in Shanghai on September 8. With the theme “Empowering the Future of AI Compute,” the event aptly reflects a profound shift now underway in the computing industry—from generative AI to agentic AI, from cloud to edge, and from the digital world to the physical world.
As the industry accelerates toward the agent era, Arm is leveraging a unified compute platform spanning cloud, edge, and physical applications. Through IP, CSS compute subsystems, finished-chip solutions at multiple layers, and a continuously expanding software ecosystem, Arm is working with partners in China and around the world to accelerate the deployment of innovation. The goal is to build a solid compute foundation for next-generation AI experiences and intelligent applications, and to meet the diverse compute demands of the agent era.
Over the past few years, competition among smartphones around AI has focused almost entirely on TOPS—as if enough AI compute alone could represent the AI capability of a chip, or even an entire phone. But as AI moves beyond single-point features such as photo enhancement, speech recognition, and smart replies, and further toward generative AI and agentic AI, the problems facing mobile compute are changing.
