for those of you new subscribers: do not worry, you did not accidentally stumble upon a “fashion Substack.” Every month, I highlight my favorite outfits of the month and my best sewing projects of the month (because I sew a lot of my own clothes and my family’s clothes, and some of my readers look forward to this content). The people who enjoy fashion can enjoy it, and everyone else can wait a day or two for something they might like more. If you joined for the female body aesthetic survey, the male version is coming next week, and if you’re not into fashion, peruse some of my other recent works, such as the difference between “pandering to the male gaze” and simply being a straight woman wanting to look attractive, and the importance of looking like you have stuff going on so potential partners and friends don’t think you’re a loser.
Now, for the people who like fashion, read on. (My sewing projects will be covered in another post on another Friday, since this one is already pretty jam-packed.)
As you may have noticed from the August fashion roundup, I’m getting really into Damson Madder. I found this shirred Damson Madder cotton midi dress at a big Anthropologie sale for (I think) about $80 despite it now being on the official Damson Madder website for $240. I also got it in brown, and although that would have been perfect for September, I never managed to wear it. Holding out for a warm October day before it’s too late!
I wore this to a three-year-old girl’s birthday party. Those Vivaia ballet sneakers got absolutely filthy, but thank goodness they’re washable!
